Hi there, anyone who still swings back around! (So, probably nobody.) I haven't been on LJ in two years, but I think some people still come in to read my old stuff.

You can now find me on Tumblr as heartlighting, and at AO3 under the name heartlight.

Universe is Laughing - 1. You Went Left And I Went Right

Aug. 3rd, 2012 | 03:03 am

Originally I was just going to stop and stay stopped, but it's been three years since Red and I STILL get messages about it. And you're all so nice about it and there are people on tumblr who are like "Red was my favorite!" and you just broke me. You're all lovely. But it got me thinking about what I would do if I did continue it, or start it over, and then I got an arc in my head and this sort of vomited out.

So this is the reboot of Red. I wrote it when I was 18 and I'm 21 now, so I thought it was best to just start over with a new perspective and run with it. I'm basically saying "screw canon, I do what I want!" because matching up Peter and Matt's timelines is friggin' hard because none of Matt's writers pre-Waid seem to want to collaborate with everyone else, and OMD was such a steaming pile of shit.

There will be gay things (with lube this time!), more gay things (with vaginas this time!), a Civil War story arc, and hopefully you'll like this one as much as the last one. Enjoy!

Series: Universe is Laughing
Chapter: 1 - You Went Left And I Went Right
Fandom: Marvel-616 (Spider-Man/Daredevil, secondary/eventual Mary Jane/Felicia Hardy)
Canon: Semi-AU. Matt is from just after Karen's death, Peter is from some nebulous New Avengers canon that's pre-Civil War. I'm fudging the timeline in this and saying that it's set in 2012.
Summary: Karen Page is dead. Life continues. This is a bit of a scene setting piece that's just a smidge too long to really be a prologue.
Rating/Warnings: G for now, but I can promise it'll get to NC-17 eventually.

you would have loved it here tonightCollapse )

What was that I said last year about writing more?

Hah. Haaahaha. I wish. I think now, about a year and a half later, it's time to admit that unless there's a miracle, my Marvel fic writing is laid to rest. You know, until inspiration strikes. Or ... something.

Sorry, Marvel. I've been having an affair with a younger woman, and her name is Mass Effect.

Whoa. I haven't been on livejournal since ... November? Weird. Life is busy, I have a job working 7 days a week, and I miss writing for myself. Since this is where I keep my fiction and such, that means my poor LJ went on involuntary hiatus for a while.

I'm working on an original novel, and though I started it, I realized that I don't remember how to write for myself very well. I went on a binge last year where I completed Red and started Sax Rohmer in a matter of months (and I'm rarely that motivated) and then it kind of trailed off when I went back into my RPs on IJ. I want to re-enact the binge. In fact, I posted the epilogue of Red a year ago almost to the day. I loved the way it felt to write something that wasn't in collaboration with other people, and it was a mistake to stop doing that.

I have a paper journal with prompts printed in it and now, I want to get back to writing in fandom. I loved doing it and I'm sad that I stopped. I need to go to the library and do a rather large amount of research for my original novel, and in the meantime, I need to get used to writing (on my own) every day. I work at night and have all day to myself; if I want to be a novelist, I need to have the endurance to handle it.

That, and I miss writing Peter and Matt. And I hate when things don't get finished. Even when I get fed up with writing or researching my novel, I can't let myself fall off the wagon of writing every day even when I'm taking a break, so I'm picking Sax Rohmer back up as a sort of companion horse to my novel's racer.

I'm going to quit at that metaphor before I have the chance to make another one.

Dollhouse - Paul Ballard - Your Soul and Your Aching Bones

Nov. 16th, 2009 | 02:38 am

Medium: Television
Fandom: Dollhouse
Subject: Paul Ballard
Title: Your Soul and Your Aching Bones
Notes: For whedonland. Also, Matchbox 20, Blue October, OneRepublic and Imogen Heap are .m4a's and I don't know how to fix that, but they should play just fine in iTunes. I'll re-upload them onto MediaFire once I get that part figured out.

Dollhouse - Alpha/Whiskey - My Brain's Ticking Like A Bomb

Nov. 15th, 2009 | 03:35 am

Medium: Television
Fandom: Dollhouse
Subject: Alpha/Whiskey
Title: My Brain's Ticking Like A Bomb
Notes: Heavy influence from a Dollhouse game on InsaneJournal. Inspired by an arc where Alpha composites Whiskey and takes her to be his robot zombie bride evil soulmate, just before he moves in and terrorizes the people trapped in the Dollhouse by Rossum. They're crazy, they're terrifying, they're immature, and often very funny, so you're going to find some silly mixed in with the serious.
